Mr. Lloyd

Now that these reports of the exceptionally fine medical work

performed in Hong Kong during the intern- ment period by Dr. Selwyn-Clarke and his doctors we again available you should certainly see it and I suggest Sir George Gater and Mr. Creech-Jones would be interested.

Dr. Selwyn-Clarke has his critics but as an energetic and efficient D.M.S. the Hong Kong stage has provided him with an exceptional opportunity to show his very remarkable qualities. As you know, he was awarded a C.M.G. before the liberation of Hong Kong on the information which reached us as to the value of the work he had been doing and whatever his critics may say as to his forceful methods of achieving his professional purposes, I am sure that no-one here or in Hong Kong will under-estimate the immense value of his work in the Colony in the face of Japanese suspicion and the ordeal of imprisonment for a long period at their hands.
